Topsy Turvy Relationships

There is a disturbing trend in our society today. It is the topsy-turvy process of starting a family. In the past, when people still had a high standard of morality, they:

1) fall in love
2) guy courts girl; asks parents for her hand in marriage
3) get married
4) have a baby (no one even dares mention the word "pregnant")

As years went by, the trend changed bit by bit. More couples:

1) fall in love
2) guy courts girl (vice versa is said to be accepted as well) ; asks parents for her hand in marriage (will still go through with the wedding, even thought he parents say "no".
3) get pregnant
4) have an emergency wedding before the woman's belly starts getting bigger.

Recently, though, the trend has worsened. Couples tend to:

1) fall in love
2) get pregnant (proper courting is usually eliminated, because things happen so fast)
3) have a civil wedding (church weddings follow after the baby is born. This is because the money they saved for the wedding should be spent for the coming of the baby)

Others:

1) Fall in love,
2) move in together
3) have a baby
4) have anotherbaby
5) and another (marriage isn't a priority!)

Worst case scenario would be:

1) meet at a party
2) get drunk
3) get pregnant
4) move in together (or get married as most girls' parents usually insist)
5) fall in love (this is a very good ending to a bad beginning! But it has happened to some people I know)

Still, the latter is still much better than this:

1) meet at a party
2) get drunk
3) get pregnant
4) guy runs off with another girl while poor pregnant mommy raises the child on her own :(

It's so sad but true. Gone are the days when people believed in "true love waits". Many are willing to dive in bed with the first person they "fall in love" with. I'm not saying it's a false love. I'm certain that many who had a crazy beginning, can still have a wonderful happily ever after, with God's blessings and grace. I'm merely pointing out that high standards of morality have really plummeted. Check the movies and dramas and even advertisements. They subtly implant in our brains that this is okay. This is the twenty first century--waiting is completely old school! But no..God's Book will never be old school.
